In this section, you will find the most frequently asked questions about our boat rental service on Lake Garda, helping you plan your trip easily and safely.

Our staff will welcome you at Gargnano Harbour, accompany you out of the port, and provide all the guidance you need to navigate independently and safely on Lake Garda.

Bookings and Payments

Boat rentals can only be officially booked on site or by phone; online, you can only submit a booking request.

Any changes to the booking can be made up to 24 hours in advance, subject to availability.

No deposit is required for the boat rental service.

Payments can be made in cash or by debit card. American Express cards are not accepted.

Requirements and Conditions

Is there a minimum age requirement to rent a boat?

You must be at least 18 years old to rent our boats.

How many people can be on board the boat?

You can find the maximum number of passengers allowed on each boat on the rental pages of our website.


Can children come on board?

Yes, children are allowed on board and are counted as adults.

Gargnano Boat also provides life jackets for children, ensuring safety and peace of mind throughout the entire outing.

Can dogs come on board?

Only small-sized dogs are allowed on our boats, subject to an additional charge of €10 per dog.

What documents are required for the rental?

For boats with an engine power exceeding 40 HP, a valid original physical boating licence is required. Digital copies or photos on a mobile phone are not accepted.

For boats with a lower engine power, only an original ID document is required.

What happens in the event of damage?

In the event of damage or loss of equipment up to €500, the customer is liable.


What happens in the event of a fine?

If the fine is the result of the customer’s negligence, the customer will be liable for it.


What happens in the event of an accident?

Should an accident occur, the customer is required to contact Gargnano Boat immediately.


What happens in the event of bad weather?

In the event of bad weather, Gargnano Boat will decide whether the outing should be interrupted depending on the severity of the weather conditions. The customer will be refunded accordingly and charged only for the actual time of use.


Other unforeseen circumstances

If, while navigating, the customer notices any problem such as water ingress, rising engine temperature, vibrations, or unusual noises, they must contact us immediately.

How does boat pick-up work?

Boats can be collected from Gargnano Harbour starting at 9:00 a.m.

Once you have picked up the boat, our staff will provide all the guidance you need to navigate independently and safely on Lake Garda, and will accompany you out of the harbour.

What happens if you arrive late for boat pick-up?

If you are more than 30 minutes late without giving adequate notice, Gargnano Boat reserves the right to reassign the boat to another customer if necessary.

If the booked boat is still available, the original booking time will remain unchanged and the customer will pay the full agreed price.

How does boat return work?

Returning the boat is easy: once your rental period is over, simply wait for us just outside Gargnano Harbour and our staff will come to escort you safely back into the port.

What happens if the boat is returned late?

If the boat is returned more than 15 minutes after the agreed time, an additional charge of €80 per extra hour will apply.

No. Under the decree of 1 September 2021, published in the Official Gazette on 15 January 2022, rented boats cannot be used for water skiing, wakeboarding, or towing inflatables for recreational use.

Rental Features

The rental includes:

  • third-party liability insurance and hull insurance
  • sun canopy
  • boat cleaning and sanitisation
  • safety equipment

For certain types of rental, fuel is not included in the rental price.

The rental price does not cover any damage to or loss of equipment, for which the customer is liable up to €500.

  • mooring lines
  • fenders
  • anchor
  • navigation lights
  • life jackets
  • folding swim ladder
